Olympos - Antalya Turkey. Antalya, Kemer, Belek, Lara, Side, Alanya information, pictures, attractions.

When it was controlled by the pirates, the town declined in the 1st century BC, until the arrival of the Romans in the 2nd century AD. Olympos was rescued by the Roman commander Isauricus.
It benefited from Genoese and Venetian traders who took advantage of the city’s natural harbour, the city’s wealth was due to its strategic trading position. And finally Olympus had been abandoned after the arrival of the Ottomans by the 15th century.
Moving 17th centuries on, Olympos is now the destination of those seeking tranquility in aesthetically pleasing surroundings. It has to be remembered that it is not just the past that attracts people to Olympos, although it is all so easy to get submerged in a place steeped in such history. The translucent Mediterranean water is too tempting to resist. A swimsuit is an absolute must when visiting here. Looking up from the seashore, ancient acropolis of the city is clearly visible on the side of the mountain.
