Alanya Citadel

Aksebe Tekke:
It is located slightly to the west of the central bazaar caravanserai group in the old city center. It was erected at 1230 by Sultan Alaaddin. A tomb section with a domed eyvan shaped entry, which is appended to the east side of this mosque and it is comprised of a domed small mosque with a square plan.
All these sections has a seperate entrance gates.
The minaret of the small mosque is built as seperate from the principal structure and it is located on the northwest.

Inner Citadel:
Inner citadel is located on the highest section of the citadel hill. It is separated from the central citadel sections and the city center by the strong walls on both sides.
Its walls on the north and west that is on the sections facing the steep rocks are less strong. On the east the entrance gate is situated on the walls. It has a plan which makes it necessary for those who want to enter the citadel to make turns of 90 degrees between the protecting walls like the other gates of Alanya citadel.
On the inner edges of the inner citadel walls are the military huts.
The small mosque of the garrison are the sites of the inner citadel, a lounge decorated with frescoes made in Ottoman period worth visiting.
However, Byzantine Church is the most interesting structure of the inner citadel. There are also many cisterns built to meet the water requirements of the Inner Alanya Citadel.
In fact, there are total 700 very large and also small water cisterns at various points of the citadel, 100 of which are usable even today.

Byzantine Church:
Byzantine church built in place of an old basilica, this chapel has the trikonkhos plan. In Mediterranean region this plan is frequently encountered. In other words, it has a plan on three sides with deep semi-circular shaped niches. Byzantine Church does not have a narthex and the main interior is covered with a dome.
A hall with an extended archway was appended in the direction of the abscissa to this dome.
Only the traces have survived through the present day, of the frescoes which are understood to be formerly present in the church.

Mint, Monastery and Tower:
Located on the section called Cape Cilvarda one of the buildings which forms the southwestern end of the peninsula is defined as the tower, and the other as the mint. Situated on the fartheast end the building is the ruins of a monastery.
Between the citadel and monastery is a crack impossible to pass over. Under these conditions, the said building can be reached by the persons with a good experience in mountain climbing or only from the sea.
