The Turkish bath (hamam) culture date back when the Turks arrived in Anatolia. They brought cleaning and bathing tradition with them.
They show the respect for uses of water. Europeans learnt the Turkish bath culture from Ottomans.
The kind of steam bath was serving as places of social gathering. Women who used to come together there with food were singing songs and dance.
Also they looked for a bride for their sons. In recent times Turkish baths are used for relaxing, getting rubbed by rubber and massage.
